Photographing women's cycling, women's sports in general, is not new to Dominique Powers. She's shot the Red Bull Rampage, the Washington Spirit vs. Gotham FC NWSL game, and of course, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. Many different sports with their own individual atmospheres. On Sunday, while in Spain for Canyon-SRAM zondacrypto's team camp, Powers popped over to the Benidorm Cyclocross World Cup to snap some pictures of the race and found herself immersed in a totally different setting than what she is used to on the road.
"There is something that's different, elevated, about shooting races over [in Europe]," Powers told Escape Collective. "Cyclocross, especially, is such a community event. Walking through the course, you see kids up to grandparents who are all just as engaged and excited about the racing.
"That's something that is really special. It's not just folks who are cyclists, or who have family who are cyclists. They love the sport, they love the spectacle."
