It’s game over for Mathieu van der Poel at the 2025 Tour de France.
The Alpecin-Deceuninck star has pulled out of the race after being diagnosed with pneumonia, following a trip to the hospital Monday evening. The team confirmed his withdrawal just hours before the peloton rolled out for Stage 16 to Mont Ventoux.
“Mathieu had been experiencing symptoms of a common cold over the past few days. Yesterday afternoon, his condition began to worsen significantly,” the team said.
