The 2024 Tour de France is over. You’ve probably already caught up on the major headlines: Tadej Pogačar winning the race overall off the back of six stage wins, becoming the first rider in 26 years to complete the Giro-Tour double; Biniam Girmay becoming the first Black rider to win the green jersey; Richard Carapaz winning the KOM jersey and ‘super combative’ prize; the fact Ben Healy has a lovely sausage dog.

As you might be able to tell from that last item, we’re quite fond of looking away from the bike race whenever we cover the Tour de France. We like telling the stories around the race, helping to paint a bigger picture of the spectacle and the impact the Tour has on those in its orbit.

Which brings us to our gallery today – a glimpse at the many interesting individuals that dot the roadside at the Tour. We’ve got moments of jubilation at seeing the world’s biggest bike race up close; we’ve got faces of abject boredom from those waiting for the race to arrive.

We brought you a gallery just like this roughly halfway through the race, featuring fans from the first 12 stages of the Tour. Today we luxuriate in the engaging roadside images Jered and Ashley Gruber snapped over the final nine days of the race when they weren’t, you know, shooting the actual bike race.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our interview with the Grubers from last year’s Tour in which they explained why they love turning their lenses towards the Tour’s fans, and how they actually go about it.

And with that, let’s dive into today’s gallery. Take your time as your scroll on through – there are many wonderful details to appreciate and enjoy in here.
