Derek Gee-West signs for Lidl-Trek

The Canadian signs a three-year deal after terminating his previous contract with Israel-Premier Tech.

Derek Gee-West has joined Lidl-Trek on a three-year deal, putting to bed one of the final overhanging storylines from the 2025 season.

The 28-year-old Canadian had terminated his contract with Israel-Premier Tech with three years left to run, the team announced in August. Gee later released his own statement, saying his decision "followed an irreparable relationship with the team principal, as well as serious concerns related to racing for the team, both from a safety and personal belief standpoint that weighed heavily on my conscience."

Gee-West added that in response to his contract termination, IPT, now rebranded to Team NSN, was seeking "approximately 30 million euros" in damages. Months on, it is currently not known whether NSN is still seeking that sum from its former rider but it did release a statement acknowledging Gee-West's departure.
