Gallery: Pidcock and Ferrand-Prévot dominate at MTB Worlds

Two elite XCO world titles, two big wins for Ineos Grenadiers riders.

Saturday was a good day for the Ineos Grenadiers. In the elite women's cross-country race at Glasgow Worlds, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot rode to yet another rainbow jersey, more than a minute ahead of her closest rival, fellow Frenchwoman Loana Lecomte. Later that same day Ferrand-Prévot's trade teammate Tom Pidcock rode to an impressive victory of his own, taking an XCO world title to go with his Olympic gold medal from a few years back.

Piper Albrecht and Ashley and Jered Gruber were in Scotland's Tweed Valley to capture all the action in the photos you see below.

Laurie Arseneault awaits the start.
Likewise Giada Specia.
Can you guess the two riders here?
The women's XCO World Championships begin.
Puck Pieterse was among the favourites for Saturday's race after a breakout season – her first in the elite ranks.
After a slow start, defending champ Ferrand-Prévot quickly made up ground.
Solid crowds lined the course in Glentress Forest.
Loana Lecomte was on the charge early.
Ferrand-Prévot caught and passed her compatriot Lecomte at the start of the second lap.
Pick a line, any line.
Isla Short was one of three riders representing the home nation of Great Britain. She'd finish the day in 25th.
Short's compatriot Evie Richards had another strong ride to finish sixth.
Ferrand-Prévot proved unstoppable ...
... building a winning margin of more than a minute over the course of the race.
Lecomte was in hot pursuit ...
... but it was Ferrand-Prévot who took the win – her fifth XCO world title – a few days after also winning rainbows in the short-track event.
1-2 for France with Lecomte second.
A late dig from Puck Pieterse (right) saw her pass Mona Mitterwallner to take bronze.
Alan Hatherly ahead of the men's start.
Mathieu van der Poel was one of several high-profile road racers on the startlist. He wasn't able to add to his road world title from last weekend – he crashed early and withdrew.
The race begins ...
... with riders jostling for position.
After starting in roughly 30th position, Pidcock moved into the top five by the third lap.
After his XCC world title earlier in the week, Sam Gaze put in a great ride that eventually landed him on the podium.
Defending champion Nino Schurter was keen to keep the pace high out front, to prevent Pidcock from coming across.
Pidcock continued to work his way through the field, and hit the front on lap six of eight.
Cameron Mason entertained the British crowd on his way to 65th on the day.
Peter Sagan is expected to turn to MTBing more seriously in 2024, once his road career is over.
A Yorkshire flag for Pidcock as he rode to the line alone.
Another stellar ride from a man who now has elite cyclocross and XCO world titles to his name. Road next?
Gold for Pidcock, silver for a disappointed Gaze, and third for Schurter.
