Stage type: Hilly

What to expect: The breakaway specialists should like their chances on the Giroโ€™s 19th stage. The flat first half of the day should see the early move get a sizable gap, and then the second half of the day has enough climbing to put the sprinters in difficulty but not enough to guarantee GC action. Punchy riders who arenโ€™t in contention for pink are going to have this stage on their minds.

Fantasy favorites: Even Tadej Pogaฤar probably can’t dash the hopes of the attackers on this profile, so let’s draw some breakaway rider names out of the hat. Jhonatan Narvรกez and Julian Alaphilippe are probably the “favorites” from a break insofar as any rider can be a favorite on a breakaway-friendly stage. Aurelien and Valentin Paret-Peintre, Pelayo Sรกnchez, Giulio Pellizzari, and Attila Valter could all be in the mix too.
