What to expect: This is the Giroโs first sprint stage. A Cat. 4 climb in the half of the stage is the only categorized ascent on the menu, and a big group should make it to Novaro Fossano to contest the win. There are some tricky hairpins just after the 4 km to go mark that will challenge the leadout trains, but the run to the finish is a long straightaway that should see some pretty high speeds.
Dane's picks: Whoever wins Monday's stage is probably going to be the favorite for the next few sprint days, but until that happens, this is still a pretty open sprint field. Our top three favorites are Jonathan Milan, Olav Kooij, and Tim Merlier (in that order) with Kaden Groves, Caleb Ewan, Fabio Jakobsen, and Biniam Girmay all likely to contend as well.
