What to expect: The fourth stage should be another one for the sprinters, although the up-and-down stretch in the middle of the day and a visit to the Capo Mele β which you likely know from Milan-San Remo β offers at least the possibility of intrigue. Anything other than a bunch sprint, however, seems pretty unlikely.
Dane’s picks: We expected stage 3 (the first sprint stage of the Giro) to clarify the sprint hierarchy at the race, but how many conclusions can we really draw from such a chaotic finale? Jonathan Milan still seems like the deserving favorite for stage 4, though Tim Merlier looks like a strong alternative. Olav Kooij, Biniam Girmay, Kaden Groves, Caleb Ewan, and Fabio Jakobsen are also among the likely contenders.
