Jorgenson's support slashed by illness at Tour Auvergne

Matteo Jorgenson goes into the final weekend of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in fourth overall, but he'll have to live with weakened support on the final mountainous stages of the race, as Per Strand Hagenes and Jørgen Nordhagen withdraw through illness.

Both young riders were key players in the Visma-Lease a Bike lineup, with Hagenes prepared to support in the hills, and Nordhagen an up-and-coming climbing domestique.

24 hours after Van Aert pulled out, Visma-Lease a Bike continues the Tour de France warm-up race with just four riders: Jorgenson, Ben Tulett, Edoardo Affini, and Bruno Armirail, who sits second overall after making it into the massive breakaway on stage 6.
