Rocky Mountain Bicycles has entered a new phase following its financial restructuring in late 2024. The company announced today that it has been acquired by a group of four Canadian entrepreneurs operating under the name Chaos Sports Inc.

The ownership group includes Jonathan Bourgeois (Raccoon Skis, Maui Bikes), Christian Thibert (distributor Thibert Inc.), Patrick St-Denis (formerly with Oakley and The North Face), and Jean-François Grenache (a marketing and business development specialist). Three of the four have existing ties to the cycling industry through Québec-based electric bike manufacturer Maui Bikes.

The acquisition follows Rocky Mountain’s restructuring under Canada’s Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), a process the brand initiated in December 2024. At the time, the company cited pandemic-era supply chain issues, inflationary cost pressures, and a post-pandemic correction in bike pricing as causes of financial strain. The CCAA process was used to avoid bankruptcy while maintaining operations.
