Mauro Schmid (Jayco-AlUla) bested Harold Tejada (XDS-Astana) in a two-up sprint to win an attack-filled stage 13 of the Tour de France from the breakaway. The duo arrived at the finish in Belfort to contest the victory after surging clear of a larger selection of attackers that had themselves left the rest of the break behind on the Ballon d'Alsace climb.
Tom Pidcock (Pinarello-Q36.5) sprinted to third on the day in the chasing group that arrived two seconds behind the leaders. With race leader Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and most of the other big GC names arriving more than seven minutes down, Pidcock's ride moved him up from 10th to fourth overall.
