UCI releases 2026 WorldTour calendars, decisively rejecting One Cycling

A unanimous vote puts cycling's ambitious reform project firmly on the outside looking in, with no quick prospects to overhaul the sport.

The UCI has released calendars for the 2026 men's and women's WorldTour at the conclusion of its Management Committee meeting. Alongside a new women's event and a few tweaks, the big news is that the much-discussed One Cycling project will not go forward on its original timeline.

One Cycling, which has been in the news since Reuters first reported on the pro road racing reform project in October 2023, had long been said to target a 2026 launch date. But in its announcement of the new calendars, the UCI firmly rejected that premise.

The Management Committee was reportedly unanimous in declining to include OneCycling in the 2026 men's or women's WorldTour. "The project, which had been developed by certain teams and organisers, in collaboration with a sports investment fund, was deemed incompatible with the governance and regulatory framework of the UCI as well as lacking sporting coherence," the UCI said in a statement.
