The iconic Willunga Hill climb will be removed from Saturday's stage 4 of the Santos Tour Down Under in response to an 'Extreme' fire danger rating in the Mount Lofty Ranges south of Adelaide.
Race organisers confirmed the change on Friday evening following consultation with the Country Fire Service, South Australia Police, the UCI, and riders in the race.
With temperatures expected to soar to 43 ºC (109 ºF), a suite of changes have been made to the race route:
