The team is winning races and fighting for World Cup titles, yet Cannondale has decided its future lies beyond the factory paddock.

Coming just three days after the team landed an elite World Cup win with Luca Martin in Lenzerheide, Cannondale has announced that its XC mountain bike factory racing programme will close its doors after the 2026 season.

While Cannondale said it will continue to support individual athletes going forward, the announcement marks an end to a factory team that has existed in some form or other since 1994, when the brand started the Volvo-Cannondale team with iconic racers like downhiller Missy Giove and cross-country racer Tinker Juarez, who won gold and silver, respectively, at that year's World Championships.
