Bianchi revamps Specialissima - the brand's lightest bike yet

Bianchi has launched a redesigned Specialissima, an all-rounder race bike the company says is its lightest model to date. In addition to weight savings, the Italian brand also claims the new version saves 16 watts over its predecessor at 50 km/h, mostly due to the aero-benefits from an updated fork and a new one-piece handlebar (with shifter levers angled inward) and D-shaped seatpost.

The top-tier Specialissima RC frame claims to tip the scales at 750 g in a size 55 cm, 40 g lighter than before, while Bianchi says the stiffness has stayed the same. Geometry also carries over from the previous model, though Bianchi adjusted handlebar reach and length after feedback from WorldTour partner Bahrain Victorious.

Sizes run from 47 to 59, and there are three build options available: Specialissima RC with SRAM Red AXS or Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 (€11,550) ; Specialissima Pro, with 850 g frame, SRAM Force AXS or Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset (€7,700); and Specialissima with SRAM Rival AXS or Shimano Ultegra/105 Di2 (from €5,200).
