Unwell Tom Pidcock will not start the Tour de Suisse
Tom Pidcock was expecting to race the Tour de Suisse as the last step of his competition buildup in preparation from the Tour de Suisse, but having struggled with illness during a pre-block altitude camp, the Pinarello-Q36.5 leader will not race the Swiss WorldTour race.
"After a number of missed training days at altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada due to a mild virus infection, Pinarello Q36.5 decided to adjust Tom Pidcock's competition program to give him extra recovery and training time," the team wrote in a press release.
Pidcock will instead head home to his base in Andorra and, "if his health allows it," he'll race the Andorra MoraBanc Classica on 21 June.
"Although Tom is disappointed to have to miss the team's 'home game', he has returned to Andorra, where he will continue his training. He is now very much looking forward to racing on the roads in the mountains of Andorra."
