Pogačar beats Van der Poel to Suisse ITT victory by a third of a second

Mathieu van der Poel put in one of the time trials of his life to secure a long stint in the hotseat on stage 4 of the Tour de Suisse. One by one, other favourites arrived home outside his benchmark until only race leader Tadej Pogačar remained on course.

At the end of the 23.7-kilometre test, Pogačar thundered into Aarburg and sprinted to the line. And the time stayed green. Pogačar arrived home 0.31 of a second faster than Van der Poel to seal his second stage win of the Tour de Suisse.

Pogačar also extended his lead overall, and will take an advantage of 4 minutes 22 seconds into the final stage.
