Rare oversight led UAE Team to try and take TTT training slot booked by TotalEnergies
Prior to the stage 1 TTT at the Tour de France in Barcelona, the participating teams had the opportunity to book a 90-minute slot on the Formula 1 race track, but it seems that UAE Team Emirates-XRG failed to secure its own slot.
According to RMC Sport's 'Peloton' podcast, the team of reigning Tour champion Tadej Pogačar attempted to take over the slot booked by Team TotalEnergies. Peloton presenter Pierre Yves Leroux said that UAE was told in no uncertain terms by the French ProTeam that, "No, no, it’s for us, it’s reserved.”
This represents a rare oversight for UAE Team Emirates, which was pictured doing TTT recon on the open road on Friday, while other teams had free reign of the F1 track.
