Roglič seeks a new team and one more chance at the Tour in 2027
Almost six years after seeing the 2020 Tour de France snatched from his clutches in the 11th hour by young compatriot Tadej Pogačar, Primož Roglič finds himself watching his favourite race from afar as he approaches the end of a lucrative Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe contract.
There's been a fair bit of talk lately about whether Roglič, now 36, might retire at the close of 2026 given that the focus at the German WorldTeam has well and truly moved on to younger GC hopes Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz. However, Marca reports that Roglič wants to keep racing.
Evidently, he has begun to feel like a totemic veteran on a roster of young star names, so he's looking for a new team that can offer him "trust, leadership and a project that sees him as more than just a big name."
This would most likely be offered by a smaller WorldTour or ProTeam outfit, either of which would – he'd have to admit – be drawn to a popular veteran.
