Rohan Dennis barred from children's school after staff behaviour warnings
The Advertiser reports that former Olympian and time trial world champion Rohan Dennis has been barred from entering his children's primary school in Adelaide for term 3 following multiple warnings over his behaviour toward staff.
According to The Advertiser, Dennis unsuccessfully appealed the ban, which can last up to one school term. The school, which The Advertiser is not naming, issued the notice, which was not related to a criminal matter or any physical behaviour.
An Education Department spokeswoman said barring notices keep schools free from violence and abuse, with breaches carrying fines of up to $7500. The maximum barring order was recently doubled to six months. Barring a parent does not stop their child attending, with schools arranging safe drop-off and collection.
The barring notice emerged days after Dennis pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified with his children in the car. He faces up to 12 months' jail, plus possible activation of his suspended 17-month sentence over the death of his wife, Melissa Hoskins.
