Routes revealed for history-making 2027 Tour Down Under
The 2027 Tour Down Under will be the longest on record for both men (874 km) and women (397.3 km) as the event gets set to break new ground.
For the first time in WorldTour history, the Tour Down Under will run men’s and women’s stages on the same day, over the same course and same distance, with the women’s race held on the final three days of the men’s event.
In a twist on the usual formula, the six-day men’s race will begin with a stage that could suit the opportunists rather than the pure sprinters, courtesy of three late ascents of the steep Checker Hill. As in the 2026 edition, stage 3 will feature two ascents of the notorious Corkscrew Road climb, before finishing with the downhill run into Campbelltown (rather than the additional climbing seen this year).
The following day hosts stage 4 of the men’s race and the opening stage of the women’s with the Victor Harbor finale likely to end in a couple of bunch sprints. Stage 5/stage 2 will feature a trademark visit to Willunga Hill for both pelotons, with two ascents to close out the stage. And both races will end in the Adelaide Hills, with a lap of the challenging circuit around Stirling.

“By having two races out on the roads at the same time, we had to get creative with our course design and I feel there will be a lot more unknowns next January,” said race director Stuart O’Grady. “We’ve had to look for different roads and climbs, so it will be a different-looking TDU and I’m excited by that.”
Both races are expected to be broadcast live but details are yet to be finalised. The 2027 Santos Tour Down Under runs from Tuesday January 19 to Sunday January 24. Full details of the route can be found at the Tour Down Under website.
