Lotte Kopecky rides through a carpark somewhere out the back of Poitiers, picking her way between cars and fans on her way to the SD Worx-Protime bus. When she arrives, she’s the only one there. No team staff, no teammates – no one besides the world champion and a couple of reporters hoping for a chat.
Kopecky quickly puts her bike on rollers, uses the side of the bus to get her balance, then begins her warm down. When asked if she’ll say a few words about her team winning the day’s stage, she’s good enough to oblige. We step inside the team cordon and chat to Kopecky about Lorena Wiebes’ comfortable sprint victory on stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

“Yesterday, the girls put a lot of effort in trying to close the gap,” Kopecky begins, “and we knew that today, it probably would be kind of the same."
