Wiebes defends Copenhagen Sprint title two weeks after Giro DQ

Lorena Wiebes returned to Denmark for the second edition of the Copenhagen Sprint as the overwhelming favourite to take victory, and she got the job done.

The Dutch national champion was racing for the first time since her controversial disqualification after stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia Women, but it's not as if she needed motivation or a reason to make a statement on her comeback. Wiebes is unparalleled in sprinting terms, and with the help of her SD Worx-Protime teammates in Denmark, she arrived at the finish ready to prove this for the nth time.

Second in Copenhagen was Wiebes' former teammate Charlotte Kool who was well-positioned by her still relatively new Fenix-Premier Tech sprint train, with Visma-Lease a Bike's Nienke Veenhoven in third. The Giro's standout sprinter Elisa Balsamo finished sixth.
