In the latest entry in our Ten Questions series, Escape Collective caught up with Tudor's Michael Storer, fresh off a banner 2025 campaign that saw him storm to a Paris-Nice stage win, a Tour of the Alps GC title, a Grand Tour top 10 at the Giro d'Italia, and his first ever Monument podium at Il Lombardia.

The 28-year-old Australian will look to go even better in 2026, with a return to the Giro as his main objective. As the new season gets into gear, Storer told Escape about his science background, his ideas for generating more hype, his up-and-down relationship with the Tour of the Alps, his favorite race to ride, and more.
Dane Cash: Not counting gym class/PhysEd, what was your best subject in school?
Michael Storer: Chemistry ... I actually started a chemistry degree [at the University of Western Australia], but then I stopped after a year and a half for becoming a pro cyclist.
DC: That's quite a career change! Do you think you might go back to chemistry after your cycling career?
MS: It depends. It was an interest as something I was good at, but it depends on my priorities when I eventually finish professional cycling, because for everyone, there is a finish to the career.

DC: It seems like you kind of flew under the radar for a few years earlier in your career. Assuming you agree – and feel free to disagree – why do you think that might have been?
