With Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) and Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) together a few seconds clear of a chasing group of rivals, stage 11 of the Vuelta a España was neutralized 3 km from the line in Bilbao due to an overwhelming number of pro-Palestinian protestors at the finish.
GC times were taken with Vingeaard and Pidcock collecting a handful of seconds on a small group that included João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) with a slightly larger gap back to another group containing Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek). What might have been a sprint showdown between Vingegaard and Pidcock for the stage win, however, would not take place, as organizers decided that the risk of racing on a finishing straight packed with people was too great.
Vingegaard continues to lead the race heading into Thursday's stage 12.

How it happened
- What was planned as a 157.4 km stage in the Basque Country featured several punchy climbs, inspiring plenty of action in the early goings. Visma, however, was clearly intent on keeping stage 11 under control, and even when Marc Soler (UAE-Team Emirates-XRG), Orluis Aular (Movistar) and Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) got clear, they were kept on a short leash.
