GC times to be taken before Montmartre on Tour stage 21

After Saturday's change to the stage 21 route due to the need to deploy emergency services elsewhere, Tour de France organiser ASO has made another amendment: with rain forecast – though not as torrential or lasting as in 2025 – and the inherent risk on the cobbled Montmartre climb, GC times will be taken before the first ascent, so just over 40 km from the line.

As it did last year, this precaution is likely to alter the outcome of the stage with pure GC riders able to stay away from danger, though it's unlikely to put off the likes of Tadej Pogačar and Remco Evenepoel.

The Montmartre circuit will still be raced.
