"I don't know, weird that they don't really answer you," Thymen Arensman began, when asked whether it was right he was having to answer questions about Ineos Grenadiers head carer David Rozman, and his links to the doctor at the centre of the Operation Aderlass doping ring, Mark Schmidt. So far, Dave Brailsford has refused to answer questions about what was revealed by ARD's investigation, and only after L'Équipe and the Times wrote stories did Ineos release this statement.

The 25-year-old had just won the biggest bike race of his life, the Tour de France's stage 14 at Luchon-Superbagnères. He'd celebrated with Ineos team staff past the line, completed a quick interview with TV, stepped on the podium to collect his deserved applause after a ride strong enough to hold off Tadej Pogačar, and now his final duty as today's winner was a press-conference via webcam with the written press.
