Milan wins stage 17 of the Tour de France in a crash-marred finale

The green jersey takes his second win of the Tour so far as rival Tim Merlier is caught behind a pileup on rain-soaked roads.

Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) sprinted to his second stage victory of the 2025 Tour de France on Wednesday's stage 17, besting Jordi Meeus (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) in Valence with Tobias Andresen (Picnic-PostNL) in a distant third.

The sprint finish was marred by a dramatic pileup as several riders hit the deck going under the flamme rouge, with would-be stage contender Tim Merlier (Soudal-Quick-Step) held up in the crash.

Overall leader Tadej Pogačar and the rest of the major GC contenders were behind the fall as well but with the crash occurring so close to the line, they were awarded the same finishing time as Milan.
