New film 'Little Five' begins shooting in Bloomington later this month

Hollywood certainly seems to have a thing for cycling at the moment. With a new Lance Armstrong biopic, a Bartali movie, and a pro cycling-based psychological thriller starring Jonathan Bailey already in the works, the latest news is that there's a film coming about the origins of the Women's Little 500, called 'Little Five', with filming set to begin in Bloomington later this month.

Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway's Somewhere Pictures is producing the film, with Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie) and Rain Spencer (The Summer I Turned Pretty) announced to star, in the unofficial followup to classic sports movie 'Breaking Away'.

The Deadline announcement reads: "Set against the backdrop of Indiana University in the early 1980s and inspired by the iconic Little 500 bicycle race, Little Five follows four unlikely young women who come together to chase one impossible dream. As they fight for a place in one of America’s most storied collegiate sporting traditions, they discover that true greatness isn’t achieved alone, and that changing history sometimes begins with a single team."

The IU Student Foundation has been tasked with gathering interest from the Little 500 community, seeking extras and cyclists to be part of the film.
