Ben O'Connor (Jayco-AlUla) soloed to his second career Tour de France stage victory on Thursday's stage 18 atop the Col de la Loze.
Determined to take the race to Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) on the queen stage of this year's Tour, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) tried a long-range attack on the Col de la Madeleine some 75 km out, but the race leader was up to the challenge. In the end, Pogačar secured runner-up honors behind O'Connor, gaining a few more seconds on Vingegaard.
The Slovenian now has a lead of nearly four and a half minutes over the Dane with just one mountain stage left.
