The UCI announced the 18 men's teams awarded WorldTour licenses for the coming season, and amid the expected names was a surprising caveat: Picnic-PostNL was awarded a single-year extension of its license, a departure from the usual three-year terms that the other 17 men's WorldTour teams were given. (Picnic's women's team was also subject to a similar restriction, an outlier in the 14-team Women's WorldTour field.)
In its announcement, the UCI said its license commission "has decided to limit the duration of [Picnic's] licence to one year and to set conditions related to the financial criterion that must be met in order to permit its extension to the 2027 and 2028 seasons."
