Pon.Bike is closing Cannondale's European assembly factory in Almelo, the Netherlands, with production relocating to the group's existing factories in Germany and Lithuania. The closure, announced by Cycling Sports Group Europe on Wednesday, will affect 120 employees. The factory is expected to shut down towards the end of 2027, following a transition period.
The decision is the latest in the ongoing restructuring of Pon.Bike's operations that have been ongoing since the group introduced a new multi-brand strategy in 2025. Almelo, set up exclusively for the assembly of Cannondale bikes, according to Pon.Bike, cannot adapt to the group's aim to run factories that build bikes for multiple brands.
