Visma offers a glimpse of the grand plan as the Tour hits the first mountains

Jonas Vingegaard and his team haven't yet cracked Tadej Pogačar and UAE, but they continue to hunt for weaknesses.

It was a busy day for Visma-Lease a Bike on stage 10 of the 2025 Tour de France. Simon Yates powered to the stage win from the break while his teammates in the yellow jersey group tried and tried again to put Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) on the back foot.

"We just wanted to keep some pressure on UAE and on Pogačar," Vingegaard said after the stage, which saw numerous attempts from Matteo Jorgenson to leave the yellow jersey group behind.

Jorgenson's repeated efforts achieved little, and indeed Visma's execution of their plan was suspect, but the flurry of activity did give us a glimpse of how Visma is hoping to crack Pogačar at this Tour: by attacking him from every possible angle.

Ten days into the race, and heading into the first rest day, Vingegaard sits 1:17 behind Pogačar in the overall standings. All things considered, it's an entirely manageable deficit and one that might seem irrelevant after a single hard mountain stage. As it turned out, Monday's stage 10 was not that stage, but Visma poked and prodded at Pogačar and UAE just in case.
