Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) stormed to his second stage win of this Vuelta a España on Thursday, taking stage 12 from the breakaway.

The 22-year-old Spaniard bested compatriot Javier Romo (Movistar) in a two-up sprint in Los Corrales de Buelna after the pair had left the rest of the break behind on the final climb. Brieuc Rolland (Groupama-FDJ) secured third on the day.

Ayuso's win marks UAE's fifth so far in the race after his own stage 7 win, Jay Vine's two stage wins, and a team time trial victory on stage 5.

Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) maintained his overall Vuelta lead on Thursday, finishing together with the other top GC contenders a little over six minutes behind Ayuso.
