Shimano's 9-speed drop-bar CUES group gets hydraulic disc brakes
Shimano's 9-speed CUES groupset has long been a top original-equipment pick for bike brand managers in the affordable drop-bar segment. But the absence of a hydraulic disc-brake option was a significant drawback. Shimano corrected that today with the introduction of a full hydraulic system for the group, built around its redesigned 9-speed shift/brake levers.
The new levers share the same design as the 10/11-speed levers, and pairs to an existing CUES hydraulic caliper. The levers are available in right and left shifter/brake lever and a brake-only left lever for single-chainring setups. Pricing and availability will vary by market region.
