Colnago launches TT2 ahead of the Tour de France
Colnago officially launched its new time trial bike, the TT2, and after many spy shots over the last month, we finally have the details.
Weight is the big story here. Across the frame, fork, seat post, and handlebars, the new bike is 545 g lighter than the outgoing TT1, which had a reputation as one of the heavier TT bikes in the WorldTour. As shown in our sneak peak of the bike at the Dauphiné (Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 🙄) nearly every tube on the bike is slimmer and the sharp edges have been smoothed. Go check that article out for a side-by-side comparison of the TT1 and TT2.

Shallower tube profiles typically makes a bike less aerodynamic, but Colnago says the new bike saves an average of two watts in real world conditions. What that mostly underlines is that Colnago was able to preserve the TT1's aero performance while dramatically reducing weight. Fit numbers have been updated to match recent trends, with stack and reach figures increasing. With the TT2, Colnago adds a fourth size, an XS.
Pricing is unsettlingly eye-watering. €7,040.00 € | £6,499.00 | US$7,500.00 for a frame, fork, seat post and cockpit.
While UAE Team Emirates-XRG disappointed at the Tour Auvergne team time trial last week, there is almost no overlap with the team there and at the Tour de France in a few weeks time. The opening Stage 1 TTT in Barcelona, Spain on July 4 will be a better test of the new bike and top squad from UAE.
