Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) soloed to victory on stage 6 of the Tour de France, attacking out of a high-powered breakaway from more than 40 km out and holding on to secure his first career Tour stage win.

Quinn Simmons (Lidl-Trek) took second in Vire Normandie just ahead of Michael Storer (Tudor) after the pair tried, unsuccessfully, to chase down their former companion in the day's break.

Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) was one of the other high-powered riders that Healy left behind in the larger move, though the Dutchman's efforts in the break were at least enough to put him back into the yellow jersey by exactly one second, with Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) dropping down to second overall again.
