Jai Hindley signs 'long term' extension with Red Bull

Former Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley has signed a "long-term" extension with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, the team announced today. Hindley, who is racing the Tour de France in support of Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz, was reportedly courted by several other teams including Visma-Lease a Bike. The Dutch team is looking for a replacement for Simon Yates who abruptly retired in January, leaving Visma in a difficult spot. Instead, the 30-year-old Hindley will stay with Red Bull. Red Bull does not announce terms of contracts, so what "long term" means is unclear but it's likely for the foreseeable future.

"I am grateful to be allowed to extend my contract here and continue my adventure at Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe," Hindley said in announcing the extension. "I love working with everyone within this team. It feels like my second family. I personally still have big ambitions, just like the team. I believe that this is the right environment for me to continue to grow and develop."
