Visma-Lease a Bike is the latest entrant in the Paul Seixas sweepstakes
Teams are lining up to court Paul Seixas, the 19-year-old talent who became the youngest winner ever of Fleche Wallonne in April. The latest name linked to the talented young Frenchman is Visma-Lease a Bike.
But in what is rapidly becoming a bidding war, with offers reportedly topping an unprecedented €13 million per year, Visma's pitch is different, reports Wielerflits. Essentially, the team's proposition is that it's the most successful Grand Tour team of the 2020s, and Seixas would get access to the team's proven development process, including mentorship from Jonas Vingegaard, and its top-level sports science division.
Will that be enough? Wielerflits reports that Seixas' agent, Joona Lauka, will re-assess offers sometime in August. It's worth noting that Seixas is still under contract through 2027 with Decathlon-CMA CGM, and that Visma is hunting for a replacement title sponsor as Visma is stepping down to a lower-level role after this season.
